January VA Beach mini vacation

We had a great weekend in Virginia Beach. We stayed at the Sheraton Oceanfront which was quite fancy by our standards.

Hotel lobby in front of the waterfall
We were upgraded to oceanfront rather than ocean view since the hotel was really empty.  We had Room 900.  They let us check in early so we went at 1:00 Saturday and went straight to the pool, the girls were so excited.

Bathing suits in January?! Definitely!

Ready to go swim!

The pool was heated and very nice, we were the only ones in it so we took floats, water toys and everything.  After swimming we went back to the room to rest for a little, of course the girls didn't want to nap, so they did this...

while Tung and I took a nap!  Then we went for a walk and out to eat dinner
This guy was holding onto the parachute and let it help him jump waves on a little wake board attached to his feet.

playing in the sand

Queen of the sand hill, I think this is what they mounded up to put the Christmas lights in.

Love this one, what are they doing?

Reagan not paying attention wondering where Daddy is?

All sandy inside and out from the sand hill

Please Mom..it is not funny to take our picture in front of the "Summer" beach ball when it's 30 degrees, windy and we're cold!

So excited we're at the beach!

Tung with his oysters for dinner.
We came back to the hotel, went to the pool again before going to sleep.  Payton woke us up this morning just in time for this
We went swimming this morning and then walked along the beach some more before heading home.  Such a nice relaxing weekend and a great way to end January!

Valentine Mail Bags

I've seen the Valentine Mail Bags at Pottery Barn Kids for a few years now and always want them for the girls, I can never justify the $20 or so a piece to buy them.  A few weeks ago I stumbled upon the tutorial from At Second Street and just had to make them!  I found some adorable owl fabric on Etsy, matched with some pink polka dots and got started.  I've always loved owls for Valentines and these even have cute hearts on them! The tutorial was so easy to follow and I love how they turned out.  This is Payton's mail bag, Reagan's is not quite finished but it is the reverse of Payton's.

New Years Eve

Reagan has no hands!

When you swing in the baby swing, you can multi-task and eat lunch at the same time.

We had a great New Years Eve. We took the girls to the playground and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches there before going to the grocery store.  Reagan took a nap, Payton tried but ended up downstairs helping me make sparkling jello.  Then we had dinner at Dalat, a new Vietnamese restaurant we tried, it was really good, we'll definitely go back.  The highlight was bowling, at first we didn't think we were going to be able to find a lane since the first two bowling alley's we tried were all reserved, but finally found one and had a great time. We only bowled 2 games, but that took 2 hours with Payton and Reagan, with bumpers and the ramp to roll the ball down, they could do it themselves and had so much fun. That and a pitcher of soda and they were in heaven.  It was so much fun, we're definitely going to have to go back again.  I left the camera at home so I don't have any pictures :(
